Day 1
AIRPORT / NEGOMBO-PINNAWELA-SIGIRIYA
Begin your day at 9.00 AM with a comfortable departure from Negombo, travelling inland toward the world-famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The scenic drive offers an authentic glimpse of rural Sri Lanka, passing through expansive coconut plantations, traditional roof tile factories, and vibrant green paddy fields that reflect the island’s agricultural heritage.
Arrive at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in time to witness the unforgettable sight of elephants bathing in the river, one of the most popular and photographed experiences in Sri Lanka. Later, at 1.15 PM, observe the heart-warming feeding session of the baby elephants, a unique opportunity to see these gentle giants up close.
Day 2
SIGIRIYA - ANURADHAPURA
Start your journey at 8.00 AM and travel toward Anuradhapura, one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred and historically significant cities. Begin a guided Anuradhapura city tour, exploring the ancient capital that flourished from the 3rd century B.C. to the 10th century A.D., and is today recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visit the revered Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest living tree in the world with a recorded history, grown from a sapling of the very tree under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment. This sacred site remains a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists from around the world and a powerful symbol of Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage.
Day 3
POLONNARUWA-SIGIRIYA
After breakfast, depart from the guest house and proceed to explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka that flourished between the 10th and 12th centuries A.D. Begin your Polonnaruwa city tour with a visit to the modern archaeological museum, which provides valuable insight into the city’s rich history and architectural achievements.
Continue to the magnificent Parakrama Samudra, the vast man-made reservoir constructed by King Parakramabahu the Great, showcasing the advanced hydraulic engineering of ancient Sri Lanka. View the statue of King Parakrama, and proceed to explore the Library Shrine, the impressive Royal Palace of King Parakramabahu, and the historic Council Chamber, where royal affairs were once conducted.
Day 4
SIGIRIYA-KANDY
Begin your day early in the morning with a climb to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, built in the 5th century A.D. by King Kasyapa, a ruler known in history as a patricide. Often referred to as the “8th Wonder of the World,” Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Explore the beautifully designed Water Gardens, Boulder Gardens, and the world-famous Sigiriya Frescoes (paintings). Continue past the Mirror Wall, the impressive Lion’s Paws, and finally reach the summit to view the remains of the royal palace and ancient swimming pool at the top, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
After breakfast, proceed to the Dambulla Cave Temple, a sacred complex built by King Walagamba in the 1st century B.C. This site features over 22,000 square feet of magnificent ceiling and wall paintings, along with numerous Buddha statues, making it the best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.
Next, visit the historic Nalanda Gedige, a unique stone temple located at the geographical centre of Sri Lanka, reflecting a blend of South Indian and classical Sri Lankan architectural styles.
Continue your journey to the Spice Gardens of Matale, renowned since the Dutch colonial period. Here, learn about Sri Lanka’s world-famous spices such as cinnamon, pepper, cardamom, and nutmeg, and their traditional uses.
Conclude the day with a visit to the Aluvihare Cave Temple in Matale, the sacred site where Buddhist teachings were first written down in book form (Tripitaka) during the 1st century B.C., marking a pivotal moment in the preservation of Buddhism.
Day 5
KANDY CITY
Enjoy a full day of cultural and leisure experiences in Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. Begin by visiting a tea factory, where you will learn about the traditional process of Ceylon tea production, from plucking to packaging, and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of world-famous Sri Lankan tea.
Continue to a gem museum, showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich heritage as one of the world’s leading sources of precious and semi-precious gemstones, including sapphires, rubies, and cat’s eyes. Next, explore the renowned Peradeniya Botanical Garden, widely regarded as the best botanical garden in Asia, famous for its extensive collection of orchids, tropical plants, and towering palms.
Later, visit a batik factory to observe the intricate art of traditional Sri Lankan batik making and its vibrant designs.
In the evening, at 5:30 PM, experience a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance show, featuring traditional drumming and classical dances of the hill country. At 7:15 PM, proceed to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) to witness the evening pooja ceremony, one of the most important Buddhist rituals in Sri Lanka.
Day 6
KANDY- ADAM'S PEAK
Enjoy a scenic drive through Sri Lanka’s picturesque hill country, with ample opportunities to capture stunning photographs of rolling tea plantations, tea pluckers at work, and cascading waterfalls along the way. This journey offers some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the island, showcasing the beauty of Sri Lanka’s highlands.
Continue onward to Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), arriving in Dalhousie, the main starting point for the sacred pilgrimage. This town serves as the gateway to the famous mountain revered by multiple faiths.
Conclude the day with an overnight stay in Dalhousie, preparing for the early-morning climb to Adam’s Peak.
Day 7
ADAM'S PEAK - NUWARAELIYA
Begin the sacred climb to Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) at 3.00 AM, ascending under the night sky to reach the summit in time to witness a spectacular sunrise. From the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and the famous shadow of the peak cast across the surrounding mountains. During the descent, take in the magnificent scenery, walking through misty landscapes and lush tea plantations before returning to the guest house for a well-deserved breakfast.
After breakfast, continue your journey toward Nuwara Eliya, travelling through scenic highland roads and passing tranquil reservoirs and two of Sri Lanka’s most famous waterfalls — Devon Falls and St. Clair’s Falls, often referred to as the “Little Niagara of Sri Lanka.”
Day 8
NUWARAELIYA-ELLA
For guests who wish to enjoy one of the most scenic train journeys in the world, we can arrange a drop-off at Nanu Oya Railway Station and later pick you up in Ella, allowing you to experience the breathtaking hill-country rail route at your leisure.
Meanwhile, enjoy a Nuwara Eliya city tour, often referred to as “Little England”, reflecting its origins as a British hill station and English planters’ retreat. Visit charming colonial-era hotels, the historic Race Course, Golf Links, and the iconic Nuwara Eliya Post Office, one of the most photographed colonial buildings in Sri Lanka. Spend some time walking around the city, soaking in its cool climate and old-world charm.
Continue to the beautiful Hakgala Botanical Gardens, renowned for its temperate flora, vibrant flower beds, and scenic mountain backdrop. Afterward, travel through Bandarawela, enjoying panoramic hill-country views, and proceed to Ella, a picturesque town surrounded by misty mountains and tea plantations.
Day 9
ELLA-TISSAMAHARAM
Start the day at 9.00 AM in Ella, enjoying a final glimpse of the magnificent Ella Gap and valley views, renowned for their dramatic landscapes and mist-covered hills. Before leaving the area, visit the scenic Ravana Waterfall, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous and easily accessible waterfalls.
Continue the journey toward Wellawaya, where you will stop at a traditional manual pottery workshop to observe skilled artisans crafting clay pots entirely by hand, offering an authentic insight into Sri Lanka’s rural craftsmanship and heritage.
Proceed onward to Tissamaharama, arriving in time for a short rest and refreshment break at the hotel. At 3.00 PM, depart by 4×4 jeep to explore Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most celebrated wildlife reserve, famous for its high density of leopards, as well as elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birdlife.
After an exciting Yala safari experience, return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Tissamaharama.
Day 10
TISSAMAHARAMA- SOUTH BEACH STAY
The journey continues along Sri Lanka’s southern coastal road, offering scenic views of the Indian Ocean, golden sandy beaches, and traditional coastal life. En route, pass through Weligama, where you can witness the iconic stilt fishermen, one of the most photographed cultural sights along the south coast.
Guests have the flexibility to choose their preferred beach destination for relaxation and leisure from a selection of recommended coastal towns, each offering a unique beach experience. Your driver will then complete the tour by transferring you to the hotel or guest house of your choice in one of the following destinations:
Tangalle, Nilwella, Mirissa, Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Kosgoda, Induruwa, Bentota, Beruwala, or Negombo.
