East Coast Tour

4 Days / 3 Nights of East Coast Tour

Sri Lanka’s East Coast is a hidden gem, featuring long white sandy beaches, excellent surf, and serene mangrove lagoons. Having remained largely off the tourist trail during years of civil unrest, this region now offers visitors a warm and genuine welcome from locals eager to revive tourism in their beautiful surroundings.

The best time to visit is May to September, when the weather is ideal, beach activities are enjoyable, and the coastline is well-maintained. For a rich and diverse holiday experience, you can easily combine Trincomalee with the Cultural Triangle, exploring both stunning beaches and Sri Lanka’s historical and cultural treasures.

Day 1

AIRPORT - SIGIRIYA

After being picked up from the airport or your hotel, you will travel to Sigiriya. In the afternoon, embark on an unforgettable climb up the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, built in the 5th century A.D. Often hailed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the fortress offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient architecture and artistry. Explore its beautifully designed water gardens, boulder gardens, mural paintings, the Mirror Wall, the lion’s paws, and the royal swimming pool atop the rock. Conclude your day with an overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 2-3

SIGIRIYA – TRINCOMALEE

After breakfast, depart for Trincomalee, a vibrant port city located on Sri Lanka’s eastern coast, approximately 113 miles south of Jaffna. Known as one of the main centers of Tamil culture on the island, Trincomalee offers a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Enjoy its pristine beaches, ideal for surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and even whale watching. Don’t miss the largest Dutch Fort in Sri Lanka, a fascinating historical landmark. Spend two nights in Trincomalee, immersing yourself in the city’s coastal charm.

Day 4

TRINCOMALEE – POLONARUWA – NEGOMBO

After breakfast, leave Trincomalee and travel to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Explore this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site, which flourished between the 10th and 12th centuries A.D. Your sightseeing includes visits to the modern museum, the Parakrama Samudra—a massive reservoir built by King Parakrama the Great, the statue of King Parakrama, the Library Shrine, and the Palace of King Parakrama. Discover the Kumara Pokuna, a royal pond with an intricate water system, the Shiva Temple, the Thuparama Shrine Room with its glittering statues, the Alahana Monastery Complex, the stunning Gal Vihare stone carvings, the Lotus Pond, and a traditional wood carving factory.
